Over the past few months our GCCS family has demonstrated extraordinary generosity. In October our middle school students raised over $500 in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. In November GCCS raised over $1,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project that was presented to their organization during our annual Veterans Day Ceremony. For the holiday season that spans November and December, our annual Food Drive collected over 3,100 pounds of food for over 36,000 households in need. Also, in December, our National Elementary and Junior Honor Societies assembled and donated a plethora of warm blankets to Friends of the Night People, while our music department’s Superstar Violinists brought holiday cheer to residents of a local nursing home and patients at Roswell.
Community service opportunities are an integral, supplementary projects to our GCCS curriculum that supports our mission to “provide a top-quality educational program wherein students become responsible, caring family and community members.” I want to extend a sincere thank you to all of you – our generous students, parents, faculty, and staff members who helped to make all of this possible. You have brought so much warmth and love to many of our WNY community. I hope your heart was by warmed by this update as you bring in a happy new year!
My November 2014 student of the month was Nico. He is polite, thoughtful, and has a great sense of humor. He interacts well with students and is one of the few students that will inquire about a teacher’s day, after the teacher has asked how Nico‘s day was going.
My September 2014 student of the month was Amir. I am very proud of him because he has a positive attitude toward school and new determination to achieve.
